Each year, the Affiliate Societies Council of Dayton recognizes outstanding engineers and scientists in the Miami Valley. These engineers and scientists are honored for important contributions to their professions and to their organizations at the Annual Awards Banquet. For many years, this awards event was held in April. Due to conflicts between the TechFest program and the many preparations for the awards program, the banquet was moved to October.
This year of 2018, the ASC Executive Committee voted to delay the Awards Program for one year. We did this to give us time to add new volunteers to the program and to train them. Also, the Committee believed that the Program needs review and more time for the award nominations and the selection process.
This Program has been active since 1971 with 494 recipients. The 2017 shift of the Program from spring to fall revealed the need for a pause and an increase in the number of volunteers to enhance the quality and smoothness of the Program. We ask for your understanding. If you would like to volunteer to help us carry out our programs, feel free to call or send an email. We look forward to the 2019 Awards Program.
ASC is a 501(c)(3) public charity and all programs are carried out by volunteers. Banquet attendance, sponsors and donations help cover the cost of meals for the awardees and spouses, award plaques, program printing, reception and other costs. We need these financial resources without which this awards program cannot continue.
